1) State of Tennessee, Grundy County: ...personally appeared before the subscriber an acting Justice of the Peace in said for County...Thomas Sanders aged 65 years past...That he was well acquainted with Solomon Sanders and that he died in what is now the County of Grundy, Tennessee in the full of the year 1837. Affiant would further declare that he first knew the above stated Solomon Sanders and his wife the above mentioned Mary Sanders in the State of Kentucky and it was as early as affiant can recollect,
Affiant would further declare that he moved with his mother from the State of North Carolina to Kentucky where Solomon Sanders and his wife Mary Sanders then lived...and affiant was so young that he could not walk and keep up with the wagonare. Affiant has always remembered that his mother moved to Kentucky in the year 1792... before he is confident they were married prior to the 1st of January 1794.Signed Thomas Sanders
2)State of Tennessee, Grundy County:...Suthey Sanders aged Seventy four years past, and he is well acquainted with the widow of Solomon Sanders, That she is an Aunt of Affiant, that he has known her from the time he was a boy up to the present ,..Affiant would further declare that his mother was a widow and lived in the County of Craven in the State of North Carolina when his Uncle Solomon Sanders came to where affiant mother lived in North Carolina and moved her to the State of Kentucky where Solomon Sanders __ family lived, and then for the first time he seen his Aunt Mary Sanders above...for this was in the year 1792, that being the year that affiant mother moved to the state of Kentucky, The above to be the year affiant cannot be mistaken and at that time Solomon Sanders Told affiant that he was married to wife Mary Sanders in Powel's Valley some time previous to his starting after affiant's mother, to North Carolina. Affiant would further declare that he lived in the Solomon and Mary Sanders above house several years in Kentucky. Affiant further declares that they all his mother and Solomon Sanders and his family moved to what is now Grundy County Tennessee near 50 year ago...Signed: Suthie Sanders
3) State of Tennessee, Grundy County: ...that Joshua Phipps aged 83 years past, he was well acquainted with Solomon Sanders, he first knew him in North Carolina, he moved to Powel's Valley Tennessee which was then part of North Carolina in 1791 and affiant were with him when he moved and he remembered the next spring he married Mary Sanders. This was the next year after they moved to Powel's Valley. Affiant declare that he stayed in 1792 with the wife of Solomon Sanders-Mary Sanders who now is a neighbor to affiant, while he went back to North Carolina after his brothers wife the mother of Suthy and Thomas Sanders who now lives in this said County, That he was at the marriage of Solomon and Mary Sanders...he remembers that it was some time before the Indians took Curtis Slater in what is now Knox County, Tennessee-for Solomon Sanders had returned from North Carolina and after he had married awhile Jane Th_r and also states was between he thinks 1793. Thomas Sanders & his brother Southerland with there mother are living with their "uncle" Solomon Sanders and his family in what was the disputed area between the States of Kentucky and by 1796 the State of Tennessee called the "Walker Line" and to further narrow this area down it lies North of the line that starts where the Cumberland River drops into Tennessee from Kentucky and 130 miles west to where the same river returns from Tennessee into Kentucky or the original line that should have been the Tennessee & Kentucky border. This area in Kentucky is the Virginia Military Reserve of 1783 and was previously known as the Transylvania Land Co.

Perkins" [?] which is the spur of the mountain between Payne's Cove, formerly Trussell Cove, & Burrows Cove. All of the land is in Payne's Cove on south side of Elk River, on a creek called Green Swamp or Yellow Creek. Adjoins the dower land of Pierson's widow, now owned by John Meeks, adjoins Isaac Meeks, Jackson Phipps, Thomas Sanders, The Perkins & Ellis survey, and Eli Stonestreet's lands which are now owned by Jourdin Sanders. Ironically, most deaths of Tennesseans where the result of an apparent epidemic of some unknown malady after the war was over, in the late winter and spring of 1815. History books do not seem to mention this epidemic but a perusal of the service records clearly reveals its existence.
