In the name of god Amen. The last daye of March in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand Fyve hundred nynetye one and in the three and thirteeth yeare of the Reigne of our soveraigne lady Elizabeth by the grace of God of England Frannce and Ireland Queene defender of the faithe etc. I Elizabeth Slocumbe of the cittie of Bristoll widdowe doe make and declare this my present last will and testament in manner and forme followinge that is to saie First I bequeath my soule unto Almightie God hopinge to be saved by the death and passion of Jesus Christ his only sonne our lord and I doe bequeath my body to the earth to be buried within the crowde of the parish church of Saint Nicholas in Bristoll in consideracon where of I do give and bequeath to the workes and towarde the reparations of the same church Fortie shillings Also I doe give and bequeath to the parishe church of Saint Michaells without Northgate in Bathe Fourtie shillings and to the poore of that parishe for that I was born there tenne shillings to be distributed by the discrecon of the church wardens there. Item I give to the poore people of the Almes houses aswell of the [Mandclins ?] as of the rest in Bath aforesaid tenne shillings. Item I give to the poore people of the Almes houses of Bristoll aswell that of the weavers and that of the tuckers as the rest of that cittie Fortie shillings. Item I give to Marie Chester my daughter Holcumes daughter the boxe wherein my pantletts are kept and three platters three porrengers and three saucers and a quarte cupp covered with silver. Item I give to Elizabeth Chester an other of the daughters of my said daughter Slocumbe the lease of my house wherein I nowe dwell and all my right thereunto with my whole terme of yeares and estate therein yet to come and not expired together with all the wainscott portalls benches and glasse nowe beinge in the same house together also with the stayned or painted clothes in the hall and the hangings of faices [faces ?] with the borders belonginge to the same together likewise with the greate presse in the fore streete chamber there To have and to holde my said house lease wainscott portalls benches glasse hangings and presse unto the said Elizabeth duringe all the terme of yeares which I have yett to come in the said lease if the said Elizabeth doe soe long lyve And if she doe over lyve the said terme then to have the same wainscott glasse portalls hangings and presse forever And if she happen to die before the end of the said terme then I will and give residue of the said yeares which shall be to come of and in the said lease at the tyme of the death of the said Elizabeth together with the said waniscott and other last recited premisses unto her sister Bridgett. Also I doe moreover give and bequeath unto the said Elizabeth Chester my two sesternes [cisterns] of leade and all my weightes and scales and also three platters three pottengers and three saucers and a present quarte pott and also my [forsett?] wherein my frenche hood lyeth. Item I give to the said Bridgett Chester her sister one little cauldron with three leggs and a drippinge panne and a pankin of a pinte and also my coffer wherein my handcherchers lye also I doe give unto her my two little stooles which are covered with grene and my stone cupp covered with silver havinge a rose uppon the cover. Item I give unto the said Elizabeth Chester the cupp wherein I use commonly to drinke that is covered with silver. Item I give to Bridgett Didmister one cupp covered with silver which is more then a pynte and hath three little heades upon it. Item I give to Grace Holcumbe daughter unto my sonne in lawe Thomas Holcumbe my trencher salte more I give to the said Bridgett over and besides the former parcells already given unto her the spruce side board in the parlor and a good broach of iron. Item I give to my Uncle Edward Brian of Bathe Twentie shillings and to his son Thomas twentie shillings more. Item I give to Roger Jones dwellinge in Beare [or Boare] lane in Bristoll tenne shillings and a fryse gowne for him selfe and another fryse gowne for his wife And to his sister Anne dwellinge in [Walts?] I also give tenne shillings. Item I give to Marie Perrin my goddaughter the daughter of John Perrin of Beltop [or Belton] tenne shillings. Item I give unto eache of my children a token of golde which I have severally sealled in papers with theire names written severally uppon either of them as I have meante and allotted it unto them with papers and tokens I have layed together with this my will in one boxe. And whereas there is a legacie of tenne poundes given by [my] late deceased h usband Thomas Slocumbe unto Gilberte Slocumbe the sonne of my late deceased sonne Henrie Slocumbe the which I am chargeable to paie unto him as Executrix to my said husband And whereas also there is restinge in my handes other twentie poundes due to be paid unto the said Gilbert Slocumbe which was of his said Fathers money and where with I am also chargable I doe nowe by this my present last will and Testament I give and bequeath unto him the said Gilbert tenne poundes more in money to make the said former severall sommes full upp fortie poundes. And I do likewise give unto the said Gilbert Slocumbe a silver cupp called a [tumie?] and an other little cupp of silver gilt both which I bought at the late St James faire in Bristoll. Also I give and bequeath unto him the golde ringe which his mother left with me that was his Fathers havinge in it a stone graven with a head. Moreover I doe give and bequeath unto him my new featherbedd and the boulster thereunto and a paire of good blanketts my best redd rugge my greate crocke in the kitchen that was his Fathers and a brasse panne of foure gallons a great pankin of [crocle?] mettle [metal] foure platters foure porrengers foure saucers and two good candlesticks and also my blacke chest wherein my table clothes and napkins use to lie and a bigge Spanish chaire and the desk that was his Fathers usually standinge under the cupboard All which money and other things as well of myne owne gift as that other tenne poundes of my husbandes gift and the twentie pounds of his Fathers money I will and appointe to be delyvered and paied within one quarter of a yeare after my death. And further my will and meaninge is that all these my Legacies and gifts before by this my last Will and Testament given and bequeathed exceptinge only the Lease of my house and the Legacies given and appointed upon the said Elizabeth Chester shalbe satisfied and paied and all delyvered in sorte as I have before given the same before the end of one quarter of a yeare next after my death. Soe much whereof as shall appertaine unto ye children above named beinge within age (except the said Elizabeth Chester) my will and meaninge is that the same be severally delyvered and paid to theire severall parents respectively So that their said parents will be readie uppon reasonable request to enter into bondes by severall obligacons to myne Executor in reasonable summes of money accordinge to the value of the said severall legacies for safe keeping and ________ delyveringe thereof unto theire said severall children that is to saie, unto the women children at theire severall ages of sixteene yeares or at the severall daies of theire marriage if the[y] marrie before that age.
